How to read a magnesium label (elemental vs salt)

Most magnesium bottles put a big milligram number on the front. That number is often the salt (the whole compound), not the elemental magnesium your body cares about. Those are different.

Salt weight = magnesium + whatever it is bound to (glycinate, oxide, citrate…).

Elemental magnesium = only the magnesium in that serving.
