Magnesium (glycinate, citrate, malate)
A mineral most US adults don't get enough of. Glycinate is gentler on digestion and preferred for sleep; citrate for digestive regularity; malate for energy. Typical dose 200–400 mg.
Vitamin D3
Fat-soluble vitamin your skin makes from sunlight. Most adults do better with 1000–2000 IU daily, ideally paired with K2. Get a blood test before going higher than 4000 IU.
Ashwagandha (KSM-66)
Adaptogenic herb used in Ayurveda for stress. Evidence is reasonable for perceived stress and sleep quality; dose 300–600 mg standardized extract. Avoid if pregnant or on thyroid meds.
Melatonin
Hormone that signals “it's nighttime” to your brain. Paradoxically, less is more: 0.3–3 mg is often more effective than 5–10 mg for sleep onset. Use short-term, not nightly.
Collagen peptides
Hydrolyzed protein that digests easily. Best evidence is for skin elasticity and joint comfort at 10–15 g daily, taken consistently for 8+ weeks.
Creatine monohydrate
The single most-studied sport supplement. 3–5 g daily for most adults supports strength, power, and lean mass. No loading needed.
